The gender lens points out all the evil within the men and women that is shown throughout the movie "The Third Man". The scene that I noticed that showed how there is evil within men and women is when Holly Martens buys some flowers and brings them with him when he knocks on Anna Schimdts apartment door. When he comes the light is darker on him then it is on her. The lighting shows how he has a bad side to him. When he walks in most of the light is focused on the flowers which show exactly what they are meant to represent. Holly Martens thinks that Anna Schimdt is a whore when talking about the Madonna or Whore Theory. That Theory states that women are either a Madonna, a gentle care giver, or a Whore, a sextual creature. Holly Martens thinks that Anna Schimdt can just be won like a little stuffed animal at the county fair grounds. He tried to win her over by bringing her bright and fluffy flowers. Since Holly Martens thought Anna Schimdt was a Whore the flowers were suppose to be the easy way to get her with him. Also this scene brings out the evil and bad that is within Anna Schidmt. Holly Marten try's to win her over and forget about Harry lime with some bright and fluffy flowers. It doesn't work, she is the Whore he thinks she is. In the end though she is the oblivious stereotypical women. She knows how bad of a man Harry Lime is, but ignores the truth and still falls in love with him. Within this scene the camera shows how powerless Anna Schmidt is and how absent she is to the truth by putting a downward angle when she is viewed. Within this scene of the movie "The Third Man", the Gender Lens shows how men and women can be evil.
